Introducing Freestyle Fridays: Uniting Voices at The Kickback

0:00 Hello, world. How's everybody doing today? This is your boy, the dude here with a check in. I know we're running about 30 minutes late, but I just want to let everybody know today was actually not going to be a show day. I just came on to really introduce everybody to a few new things that we're going to have going on here at the kickback. So first and foremost, how's everybody day going? I hope it's a beautiful day for everyone. Unfortunately, my co-host had some personal business he had to take care of, so he's not going to be here with me today.

0:40 So it's just me. So this is going to be a quick show, a quick rundown, just to give out a bit of information. So here at the kickback we appreciate. Everyone that's come in and listened and given us feedback and let us know what you think about the show I'd like to say thank you and I appreciate everyone, so today we're coming on to introduce a new segment that you all should be looking out for it's called Freedom Fridays or Freestyle Fridays and what What we're going to do is we're going to have a two hour open forum where you can come in and you can talk.

1:27 You can hang out with us and it's going to be at 5 p.m. in the afternoon. Same time, same channel. Just a new day added to the show's program. As you know, we are a small, small channel and we're trying to branch out and do some bigger things. And as you can see, we are working hard in the background and I have the joy and the pleasure of interviewing. A gentleman, a one-of-a-kind native just like me. We're called a rare unicorn here in our state of Tennessee in our city of Nashville, because if you've ever been to Nashville or if you're from Nashville, you know that a lot of people in Nashville are not from Nashville.

2:18 They'll tell you they're from Nashville, but they migrated here from somewhere else. But the gentleman that I had the pleasure to interview his name, Jonathan Williamson. He is the new president of the Nashville chapter of the NAACP. And I had a wonderful interview with him this weekend. And so once I finish broadcasting today, I will be publishing that show. So everybody, if you are a fan of the kickback, I need you to listen in and I need you to get some informative information and understand that the community that we live in, we need help.

2:58 Nashville, Tennessee is a very diverse city. We got a lot of people moving in from a lot of places. But if you're a native, if you've been here long enough to understand and know the dynamics and the diversity of our city, then you'll understand the importance of the NAACP and what they bring to a community. It's social activism at its finest. They are working for people in all branches of life. It doesn't matter how much you make. It doesn't matter where you live. As long as you live inside of Davidson County, the NAACP will help you and they will navigate you through some things that you need to navigate through.

3:42 The conversation was so eye-opening and it was so amazing that I was amazed to hear all the things that were said and what's going on within our city and how the NAACP is trying to bridge the gap and figure out a way to have better community structure. So, like I said, after the show today, I'm going to release that episode and I'm going to be sending it out to the world. Now, here's a disclaimer. If you know what a disclaimer means, I was having some technical difficulties because I wasn't in the normal studio.

4:23 And so I was recording in a different location and my equipment was not liking me that day. When I say it wasn't liking me, it was not liking me that day. So the audio on the show is a little iffy and a little off. So for the first five, six minutes, you have to bear with me. But after that, the interview was amazing. There's no camaraderie. Hey, I don't know everything. You don't know everything. So maybe we can learn from each other and we can help each other through this thing called life. So like I said, Freestyle Fridays, Freedom Fridays, two hours live, two hours live. You can come in, you can say hello. We can talk about whatever's going on in your day. We can talk about what's going on in your week. We can talk about life, children, marriage. Men's health and that's a broad spectrum if you're a veteran you can come in and we can talk about veteran things if you feel like you just need to vent come in and vent we don't mind we're here to listen because we want you to understand and know that you're not alone my brother, We're here with you. We all go through something. We all bleed red.

6:51 And the interesting fact about me is I'm an O positive so I can give anybody blood. So what that means is I'm willing and open to any any conversation with some contingencies. We don't talk about everything. And there'll be some things that we will have to put off for today. topic Tuesday. Tuesday is usually the day we set aside for different interviews and different topics that we talk about. But Friday, Friday, Friday is going to be Freedom Friday, which is a two-hour show where you can come on and you can say whatever you want to.

7:33 We have a call-in feature. We also have text where you can text in the show your questions, your concerns, or whatever ever you want to. Like I said, we'll open up the phone lines. You can call in. You can be a part of the panel. You can be a part of the conversation. It's up to you. I'm just sending out an invitation for all men and all brothers to understand that we are here and we have ears and we want to listen and we want to understand what's going on in the world today. It doesn't matter if you're 18 to 80. If you got ears and you can hear, we want to hear from you.

8:16 So understand we're here. We're brothers. We're fathers. We're uncles. We're men. So let's get together and unite as brothers and try to figure out how to better the world for the next generation of men, brothers, uncles that are coming along in this world that need someone to talk to. Because being a man in today's society is hard because today's society says you can't do this. You can't do that. You have to look a certain way. You have to act a certain way. That's not always true. That's not always true when it comes to manhood.

8:58 Manhood is not what society says manhood is. So don't believe the hype is all I'm saying. Don't believe the hype. Again, this is your host, the dude, my co-host, David. He'll be with me on Friday. We'll get this thing rolling. And all we ask for you is to come in with some sense of some some common sense. Let's say that we don't. The only thing we ask is that you are not racist. We do not deal with any form of racism that that is a no toleration. That is a deal breaker.
